Has anyone noticed an increase in Power BI semantic model sizes and difficulties downloading large PBIX files recently?

Since January 2026, I've noticed a gradual increase in the size of some Power BI semantic models. It's not huge in every case, but there's a noticeable difference compared to earlier. I've also heard about Microsoft's ongoing changes to how Power BI reports and semantic models are represented and stored, particularly the adoption of formats like TMDL and PBIR. I'm wondering whether these changes have anything to do with the increase in semantic model sizes. Another thing I've noticed is that downloading large PBIX files (around 1.5–2.5 GB) from Power BI Service has become increasingly unreliab
